Overview. Oil Veins are a strategic resource in ARK:Survival Evolved. It allows the placement of an Oil Pump on top of it for the extraction of Oil . Oil Veins are found throughout the Low Desert (Scorched Earth) and Badlands (Scorched Earth) locations in the Scorched Earth dlc. There are 22 Oil Veins located in 16 distinct locations. You can build a 1 pillar high platform on the sea floor as big as you want your base, and then just raise 1 pillar in the middle to the surface and add ceilings to it. It should be possible to add as much ceilings to it as the space on the sea floor is big, as they have foundation support from below. I am curious how to tame or capture an oil bug so I can lock it up and have regular access to oil instead of runing around searching for them all the time. I tried taming them by using a bola and then a club but no luck I used the bola on one but it would not let me drag it to where I wanted.
